HANDMADE CHRISTMAS
Handmade Christmas is a collaboration between Mimi Robinson Design and Department 56 to create a fair trade holiday collection to be previewed-Christmas 2008.
Inspired by the art and culture of Guatemala and Peru, and embracing fair trade values, Mimi Robinson and Department 56 and are creating a unique collection of products that celebrate the handmade and reflect the rich craft traditions from this part of the world.
DEPARTMENT 56 Now headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Department 56 has become a leader in the giftware, collectibles and holiday decorating industry and is best known for it's extensive lines of holiday and home decorative products.
MIMI ROBINSON DESIGN
Known for mixing the cultural past and present surroundings, Robinson has been creating her own designs and collaborating with artisans communities around the world to create products that reflect her modern perspective and use of centuries-old materials.
Robinson has worked as an international design consultant for the past 15 years, working in South and Central America, Africa and the Caribbean, to design products with artisans which employ traditional skills and local materials to help build bridges between local artisans and global markets.
